Most of this is made up of leftover take way and Sunday roast meals. Lots of parents who over estimated meal sizes and children with fussy eating habits also contributed. This survey also showed as many around six families out of ten will quite often leave large amounts of food on their plates. This of course always ends up in the bin. This is where the disposal comes in. Many people think that the disposal has the same operation as the blender, however it does not, as, firstly there are no blades attached. The disposal works using it’s impellers (lugs) fitted to a plate, which spins and centrifugal force forces the waste against something called a static grinding ring.
Shoreditch Plumbers supply and fit disposal units. Here are some tips:Tips:Don’t drop spoons or forks in the unit or feed waste in too quickly.Always run adequate water while waste is processed.Chemical drain cleaners should not be used in a disposal as they cause corrosion. If Blocked: Isolate the electrical and water supply, and never place your hand in the disposal, even when power to the machine is turned off. Visually check for foreign objects in the garbage disposal. Should a foreign object cause a stoppage, you can use a pair of pliers to remove it. Switch the power back on and reset overload protector button. A
Shoreditch Plumber can unclog a disposal.Still Blocked:Isolate the power again and insert a wooden spoon, or maybe a broom handle. Never put your hand into the unit. Push against the impellers and rock back and forth to free up. It is a good idea to cut a fresh lemon in half, throw one half in the disposal then operate. The lemon’s odour will actually deodorise the unit. You will know it’s working by a fresh lemony smell.
